I had a decent programmable thermostat but the LCD read out was small and un-readable in dim lighting of my hallway.
This unit is back lit and has large easy to read numbers, the back lighting can be set to stay on all the time or go off after a few seconds. I got it because I tend to make adjustments when i get up in the morning and don’t want to turn on lights and wake everyone up. The buttons are large and easy to use also when you are half asleep
